Days after a March 20 hearing, the judge in the Internet Archives case ruled that scanning books without permission violated publishers’ copyrights. At this time, the Archives plans to appeal.
A complex suit that includes allegations of fraud and RICO violations, as well as copyright violations, has been filed against Live Nation, Universal Music Group, and the Roots. The plaintiffs are the widow and the estate of a former band member. The complaint includes a request that the band’s trademark be frozen pending a valuation of its’ worth.
